About the webpage

This is a webpage developed by Joakim Eriksson. It started as an Excel sheet many football tournaments ago, after that it all went sideways.

Over the years it has had many incarnations. As I said it all started with an Excel document. Later it was turned into a web page written in python based on the Flask framework. The latest version is written in python based on the Django framework.

From being an almost inpenetrable and highly complex mishmash of unreadable formulas in Excel, the football betting at RTCC taken the step to the internet. It is now a webpage written in Django and run on a small home server. Instead, it is now the python scripts that are unreadable and almost impossible to check, all so that your's truly, according to some people, will have a slight advantage in the competitions.

Now it is possible for everyone who wants to create their own competitions, invite friends or foes, and see who is the best fortune teller.

As always, there are a lot of stress before the competitions starts to get everything finished. Will everything work, or crash when it goes live? Or will it be smooth sailing?

Every year there are improvements from the last version. This year it is the fact that it is completely re-written in Django to improve the stability and speed of the page. There are also new functionality in the possibility to have private leagues and to send direct invites to leagues. The data is also fetched from a new API this year. It is now coming from football-data.org.
